Teachers’ Perception and Practice of English Language Teaching Following CLT Approach in Chinese Higher Education - A Study of Two Higher Educational Institutions in China

the purpose of present study was to investigate role teachers’ perception and practice English language teaching in implementation Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach two Chinese universities, which conducted with three pragmatic purposes: 1). on characteristics CLT used teaching; 2). identify perceived instructional strategies helping students develop their communicative skills; 3). explore problems obstacles midst it. The mixed methodology (Quant +qual) approaches employed this study. data collected from forty college teachers who were working at Department Applied through survey questionnaire, a case study, semi-structured phone-call interview. findings revealed that almost had noticeably positive correlativity ELT, directly manifesting intricate as they’ve frequently highly related improvement students’ communication skills, respectively. Nevertheless, some likewise illustrated, probed be difficultly operated prolific class within approach. Implications for are ELT have meaningful effects development higher education well exhibited issues operation profoundly requires consideration kept class.
